Internship Opportunities The H9, LLC, an Event Planning and Legal Services Company has internship opportunities in the Kansas City and St Louis Metropolitan areas for Paralegal/Criminal Justice majors for the Spring 2011 semester.
Objectives & Outcomes: Interns will shadow employees to learn to identify the different types of case documents, gain hands on experience interacting with clients & local court personnel, conducting basic legal research, and drafting legal documents. Internship duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
1.
Going into State
& Federal court houses to do name searches for any criminal/civil cases
on an individual or company. If results are found, you will gather
requested information (case name, case number, nature of the case,
parties involved, filing & disposition dates) and compile the
information into a report. Upon receiving a request, these searches &
reports must be completed within 24-72 hours.
2.
Retrieving case
documents from area court houses, such as pleadings,
complaint/indictment, docket sheets and corporate documents from other
governmental agencies, such as Good Standing Certificates. These files
will then either be hand delivered or scanned into PDF Format and
emailed to clients. 3. Conducting basic legal research and drafting memos or correspondence containing research results.
4. Assisting with daily tasks such as answering phones, filing, running errands, and processing client requests for assistance.
EVENT PLANNING / HOSPITALITY INTERNSHIP
Objectives & Outcomes: Interns will shadow employees to learn the ins and outs and common processes of how to thoroughly plan events, such as interacting with clients, budgeting and coordinating with vendors, all while providing the highest level of customer service. Internship duties will include, but are not limited to the following:
1. Meeting with clients to obtain their ideas/visions & other relevant information, and preparing a budget for proposed events.
2. Researching local venues to host events and communicating with venue personnel.
3. Coordinating with vendors, caterers and other persons essential to the event.
4. Assisting with daily tasks such as answering phones, filing, running errands, and processing client requests for assistance. REQUIREMENTS
1. Candidates should have basic knowledge of Microsoft Office Products (Word and Excel), email, scanning & faxing, and MUST have easy access to internet & a cell phone.
2. ATTENTION TO DETAIL AND A POLISHED APPEARANCE IS A MUST!
3. Flexibility, dedication, a strong work ethic, and a sense of humor are all characteristics/traits necessary to do well in this internship.
4. Candidates must have a GPA of 2.75 or better.
OTHER INFORMATION
1.
A Blackberry,
Smartphone, or PDA's with email capability are a plus, but not required.
2.
Special
preference will be given to interns with flexible schedules, who can
work Monday through Friday for at least 2-4 hours, or at least 3 days a
week for 3-4 hours.
3.
A small monthly
transportation stipend may be given to help offset transportation costs. 4. Upon successful completion of the internship, there is the possibility of contract employment with the company.
